Life in the UK Test Translations: Study in Your Language

The Life in the UK test at the test centre is always in English. There is no official Polish, Urdu, or Romanian version of the exam. But that does not mean you have to study in English alone — translations can help you understand the handbook while you build the English skills you need for test day.

Can you take the test in another language?

No. All 24 questions at the approved test centre are in English. You must read and answer in English on the day.

What translations do help with:

• Understanding tricky questions while you study
• Reading chapter summaries in your first language alongside English
• Building confidence before you switch to English-only mock exams

Web vs app: what is translated?

Web practice (/practice) is English only — 24 questions per round, free, no signup.

iOS app adds:

This is deliberate: the web gets you started quickly in English; the app is where deeper bilingual study happens.

Who benefits most from translations?

Translations are especially helpful if:

• English is not your primary language at home
• You understand concepts faster in Bulgarian, Panjabi, Polish, Romanian, or Urdu
• You are studying with family members who prefer another language
• You want to cross-reference handbook topics in two languages

They are not a substitute for being able to read English on test day — use timed English mocks in the app to confirm you are ready.

Translations vs B1 English

Translated study notes help with Life in the UK handbook content. They do not prepare you for the separate B1 English speaking and listening requirement that many citizenship and ILR routes need.
